Medicine List Setup Tutorial
The Medicine List Setup is one of the most important steps in Pharmacy POS BD. A properly organized medicine list ensures fast billing, accurate stock control, and correct expiry tracking.
This tutorial explains how to add, edit, and manage medicines step by step.
1. Open Medicine Management
- Login to Pharmacy POS BD.
- From the Dashboard, click on Medicine Management.
- Select Medicine List.
You will see a list of all medicines already added to the system.
2. Add a New Medicine
- Click the Add New Medicine button.
- A medicine entry form will appear.

a) Medicine Name
- Enter the full medicine name
- Example: Napa 500 mg
Tip: Use proper spelling to avoid confusion during billing.
b) Category
- Select a category (Tablet, Syrup, Capsule, Injection, Ointment, etc.)
- Categories help organize medicines and reports.
c) Company / Manufacturer
- Select or enter the manufacturing company name
- Useful for company-wise reporting
d) Strength / Dosage
- Example: 500 mg, 250 mg, 5 ml
- Helps identify medicines correctly
e) Batch Number
- Enter the batch number as printed on the strip or box
- Batch-wise tracking helps manage expiry accurately
f) Expiry Date
- Select the correct expiry month and year
- Expiry alerts will be generated automatically
g) Purchase Price
- Enter the buying price per unit
- Used for profit calculation
h) MRP (Selling Price)
- Enter the Maximum Retail Price
- This price will appear on the invoice
i) Stock Quantity
- Enter opening stock quantity
- Stock will automatically update with sales and purchases
4. Save the Medicine
- After filling all required fields, click Save.
- The medicine will be added to the medicine list.
- You can now sell this medicine through the billing screen.
5. Edit or Update a Medicine
- From the medicine list, find the medicine you want to update.
- Click Edit.
- Update required information (price, expiry, stock, etc.).
- Click Update to save changes.
6. Delete a Medicine (If Required)
- Select the medicine from the list.
- Click Delete.
- Confirm deletion.
⚠️ Note: Deleting a medicine with sales history may affect reports. Delete only if necessary.
7. Bulk Medicine Entry (Recommended)
For faster setup:
- Add medicines through Purchase Entry, which automatically:
- Adds new medicines
- Updates stock
- Saves batch and expiry data
This is the best method for setting up large medicine lists.
8. Medicine List Best Practices
- Always enter correct expiry dates
- Use batch-wise entries for the same medicine
- Update purchase price regularly
- Avoid duplicate medicine names
- Review near-expiry medicines weekly
9. Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Skipping expiry date
- Entering wrong MRP
- Mixing different batches in one entry
- Forgetting to update stock after purchase
